Not connected with a church but want a church feel for your ceremony? Get married in a chapel!
These 11 chapels are open to anyone. They are owned by not-for-profit groups like park districts. In order to pay for the upkeep of these historical buildings, they charge for weddings.
You get a beautiful, historic chapel to get married in. They get the funds to maintain them. A win-win!
Rev. Phil will be glad to officiate your wedding in any of these.
Gorgeous historic church (built in 1860) with tons of wood and stained glass. No center aisle (go up left side and down right side; the center is now where the best seats are). There is a modern building next door that could host a reception for up to 200.
Bright, beautiful large chapel on the lovely campus of Elmhurst University
Built in 1864. Lots of wood and stained glass.
It’s air conditioned – but it does not keep up well on a hot day
The coordinator there will help send people down the aisle – at the rehearsal, at the ceremony. Very rare. Very helpful.
Trinity Chapel
130 N. West St., Wheaton
Seats 150
Air-conditioned! No microphone possible. Your officiant better have a strong voice to be heard by the last row. (Rev. Phil does.) Trinity Chapel is Wheaton’s oldest church building in continuous use. Consecrated in 1882, the chapel has been accepted into the prestigious National Register of Historic Places.
Seats up to 150 — 100 on the main floor, 50 in the balcony.
Built in 1913, renovated in 2006. This is on the campus of North Central College, just east of downtown Naperville.
Rev.Phil, in the photo, has done more weddings here than any other chapel.
Old historical church (built in 1861).
There is a center aisle but a railing at front forces couple to go around it to the left or right. Kind of awkward. There is no air conditioning. Therefore, they do not do weddings in July or August.
Seats around 100 – including the balcony
Historic, old church with side balconies (with more limited views)
There is air conditioning.
Older, historic chapel with no air conditioning (but windows on the side do open.)
Beautiful Tiffany stained glass at front.
Newer, simple but nice chapel across the parking lot from their banquet hall.
It’s air-conditioned. With two sets of doors, it stays cool.
Rev. Phil only gets to lead half of the rehearsal. Their coordinator leads half of the rehearsal in her way – regardless of what you want.
Built in 1855 — Kendall County’s oldest church building. Has 100 year old pipe organ.
